HOST A WEDDING RECEPTION AT THE UNIVERSITY CLUB


Exclusively for our members, the University Club offers a variety of spaces for Wedding Receptions:

Entrust your memories to The University Club. From an intimate rehearsal dinner to an elaborate reception, we’ll make certain your wedding day is truly special. (We can also host your engagement celebration and bridal shower.) Our banquet staff will guide you effortlessly from the initial planning stages through the day of the event—providing you with recommendations for custom menus, floral arrangements, photography, entertainment, specialty rentals (linens, china, chairs, etc.), car service and complete event coordination.

  • Menus
    • Based on a duration of 5 hours, the evening would consist of:

      Sparkling Water and Hot Apple Cider or Lemonade passed to guests before Ceremony.
      Champagne, White Wine and Sparkling Water passed to guests upon arrival to the Reception.
      Customized specialty cocktails can be passed, additional fees may apply.

      An Elaborate Cheese & Fruit Station & Crudite Platters on the Bars

      The above package pricing is based on your entrée selection & any a la carte stations at the cocktail reception. (plus 8.375% tax & 12.45% gratuity and 6.05% service charge fees)
      The wedding reception may also be comprised of a dinner buffet in place of a formal sit down affair.

  • Wedding Facilities
    • The University Club offers a variety of spaces for Wedding Receptions:

      On the 1st floor, the Dwight Lounge and adjoining Dwight Room, with is richly wood paneled décor, is a gracious setting for receptions for 75-160 guests.

      Also on the 1st floor is the spectacular College Hall ballroom, which is an elegant setting for 100-170 guests to celebrate with dinner and dancing. It can be used in conjunction with the Dwight spaces for your cocktail reception or alone as a ceremony hall.

      On the 7th floor, our grandest dining facility is the Main Dining Room with its unparalleled architectural greatness and access to the renovated outdoor Terrace. The adjoining Council Room with the frescoed ceiling is ideal for cocktails and together this space is the most spectacular venue for gatherings of up to 300 guests (150 guest minimum suggested).

      Other charges that may apply are rental fees for each additional ballroom chair, candlesticks and rental fees if any specialty linens or china are ordered by the Club.

      A Complimentary Suite is offered to the Bride and Groom on the day of the Reception, which is also available for an overnight stay.

  • General Information
    • If the Dining Room is to be used, the sponsor member must address a brief letter to the House Committee requesting approval to use the room.

      DRESS CODE
      Please be advised of The University Club’s dress code which is in effect at all times. Male members and guests are required to wear jackets, dress shirts and ties. Female members and guests are required to wear clothing meeting similar standards: tailored clothing that otherwise conforms to this rule including suits, dresses and skirts or tailored trousers with dress shirts, blouses or sweaters. Jeans, shorts, capris, sneakers, flip flops and other such casual sportswear are not considered appropriate attire.

      CLUB HOUSE RULES
      All decorations must be cleared through the Food & Beverage Office. Nothing is to be hung from or attached to any of the walls of the clubhouse with nails, tacks or tape. Anything to be hung is to be pre-approved by the Banquet Office in accordance with these guidelines. No nails, tacks, staples or tape are permitted. All Vendors must read and acknowledge the Club Rules provided in your contract.

      All areas for photography must be cleared through the Food & Beverage Office. No representative of the Press is allowed in the Club at any time except as a guest. No mention of the Club’s name may be made in any press release or published photograph.

      Please be advised of The University Club’s dress code which is in effect at all times. Male members and guests are required to wear jackets and ties. Female members and guests are required to wear clothing of equivalent formality. Jeans, sneakers and shorts are not considered appropriate attire.

      DELIVERIES & LOAD-IN
      All deliveries should be directed to 6 West 55th Street. On weekends and after 3:00 pm, deliveries and all Vendor load-ins should go to 3 West 54th Street unless other arrangements are made in advance. There are fees to have security on site to assist with access through the service entrance on the weekend.

      PARKING
      Reduced rate parking is available at the Ampco parking garage located at 17 East 54th Street between Fifth & Madison Avenues. Guests must get their parking stub validated at the Club’s front desk to receive a discount.

      CELLULAR PHONES AND PERSONAL DIGITAL ASSISTANTS
      Cellular phones and personal digital assistants must remain silent and may not be used in public areas of the Clubhouse. Cell phones and PDAs may be used n the telephone booths throughout the Clubhouse - most of which provide reception for these devices. Also, our house phones may be used for outgoing local calls, including calls to local cell exchanges, without cost. Simply dial 9-1 and the 10-digit number. Please keep usage brief and be considerate of others seeking to use the booths.
